Rajababu

Movie Rajababu
Director Muppalaneni Siva
Producer United Movies
Music SA Raj Kumar
Cast Rajasekhar, Sridevika, Sarada, Vijay Kumar, Siva Reddy
When will we see Dr Rajasekhar doing something original? His latest film Rajababu a remake of Mohanlal?s Balettan a steamy family entertainer falls flat, as it reminds you of the Telugu tearjerkers of 60?s and 70?s.
How a devoted son safeguards his father?s reputation as a clean man just does not gel with today?s audience. The story is so predictable and clich餠as the basic idea of the scriptwriter seems to work on lady sentiments. What film makers should realize is that this genre of sentimental family stories are beaten to death on small screen and ladies get their daily dose from television.
Rajababu (Rajasekhar) is a do-gooder and a dutiful son. He gives a promise to his father on death bed that he will look after his second wife and children! To safe guard this promise Rajababu goes through hell as everyone including his brother, mother and his own wife suspects his noble intentions. But predictably, everything is sorted out in the climax and Rajababu comes out as a ?surf white? man with a noble heart!
It is an unbelievable yarn and the only saving grace in the film is the Chandramukhi comedy track of Kovai Sarala and Brahmanandam. Director Muppalaneni Siva goes through the motions of doing a remake. S.A.Rajkumar?s music is a rehash and among the actors Rajasekhar, Sarada, Riaz Khan are all adequate. On the whole, it is a boring affair.

Suriya to endorse Pepsi

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

A Tamil actor like Suriya whose Ghajini in Telugu was a huge hit, is now doing an endorsement for Pepsi in Andhra!
Suriya is promoting “Pepsi Thragandi Hero Avvandi” contest. The mega contest will culminate in one lucky winner who will get a chance to act in Suriya’s forthcoming movie Rangam Sidhamayindhi being produced and directed by Gautham Menon. The confidence that Pepsi has in Suriya in this hot Andhra summer is tremendous. It is for the first time that an actor who is not a mainstream Telugu commercial actor has been roped in to do a promotion of a product. It clearly shows the reach of Suriya in Andhra!
Remember arch rival Vikram is endorsing Coco-Cola in south India and its summer promotion in Andhra is likely to start in April. And above all our mega star Chiranjeevi endorses Thumps Up, a Coco Cola India product. So it requires a lot of guts on Pepsi’s part to do a major promotional road show with Suriya. Added Saurab Gupta, Director Operations, Pepsi Foods: “We are extremely confident that Suriya will help us make deep inroads in Andhra cola market. We are excited about “Pepsi Thragandi Hero Avvandi” contest that also reiterates Pepsi’s youthful positioning”.
