Chiranjeevi Was a Translator to Murugudas

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Murugudas can neither speak nor write Telugu. He can only converse in broken English which cannot be understood by many.

Then how could he manage to direct the film ‘Stalin’?
Well, in many occasions when Chiranjeevi was in the sets, he used to interpret what Murugudas was saying to his unit members.
Tamil had been the common language for South Indian film circles till 1991, but the days have changed now. When film industry shifted to Hyderabad , the new generation film team hardly speaks and understands Tamil.
Only the old generation people are comfortably coping with Tamil speaking directors or technicians.
Thus, Chiranjeevi took it as a pleasure to translate the words of Murugudas into Telugu.

At last she said that her weak point is her boy friend. But she negated to tell out about her first dating experience.
She is about to groove in a few Bollywood films shortly.

Both ‘Stalin and ‘Boss’ Are Undergoing Litmus Test!

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

Making the expectations of trade circles true, the film ‘Stalin’ collected a whopping Rs. 15 crore in the first week. Thus, it broke the Rs.13 Crore record of ‘Tagore’ as well. But the second week collections turned very crucial for the film. Trade pundits opine that if the film collects three-fourths of the collections what it made in first week, it can be termed as a film landed on safe side. The film lacked in entertainment and seriousness is blended more in it. Hence, the film is not reaching the expectations of audiences with respect to entertainment.

‘Boss’ is the fresh film that’s put to test before audiences.
The film is getting positive remarks for first half, but the second half is considered to be sagging and pale. As Nagarjuna said that the film would be on par with Santosham, Manmadhudu and Nenunnanu, the audiences assumed that there would be more entertainment in the film that seriousness and sentiment. On the other hand the climax turned highly predictable and that killed the enthusiasm of the audiences. Another week has to be waited to understand the plight of this film.

Genelia says that she is not inclined for item songs.

She also recalls that she never did any item song. “I chose films by considering story, banner and director. All the roles that I played so far are picked up in similar way. I played a cute girl’s role in Sye and a responsible heroine role in Bommarillu”, she added. Genelia also shared saying, “Initially I was called ‘iron leg’ in the industry. But I don’t know how a heroine becomes responsible for a flop. Lot many things will influence for a film either hit or flops. ‘Satyam’, the film in the early days of my career itself was a hit”. Well, Genelia is now awaiting her new release ‘Dhee’ in the direction of Sreenu Vaitla. She paired up with Vishnu in the film.

‘I can wear a half-saree and still look hot’

Saturday, September 30th, 2006

She’s one of the most glam girls in the Telugu and Tamil industries at the moment.

But the veejay-turned-actress says it’s no big deal. “What’s the challenge in looking glam? Anybody can do it. Look around — everybody’s working hard trying to look glam — it’s not hard to achieve!” Which is why the actress has now decided to do deglamorised roles. “I know it’s drastically different, but I’m not going to be a part of the bandwagon and push myself towards a very achievable target,” she says. And she kept her word in her latest Tamil flick Thimiru. “I play a village belle full of spunk and I wear only traditional clothes with a kondai. But I’ve proved that I can wear a half-saree and still look hot!” Attitude, she says, is important for an actress. “It’s a quality that determines how you look to the world and how the world views you. I wore my half-sarees with the same attitude that I wear my short skirts, so not once did I look uncool.” It’s the same attitude that Shreya adopts when offered a film with stellar casting and huge remunerations. “Just because the film boasts of a big hero, I’m not going to shake my hips around him. I need to have some scope to explore my creative instincts too. I also can’t dance and I hate dancing to folk numbers. So I tell my directors that if they want me in their films they better learn to deal with this.” When Shreya got an opportunity to work with Malayalam superstar Mammootty in her second film Black, she ensured she did her share of homework. “He’s a four-time National award winner and I didn’t want to make a fool of myself in front of him. I promised myself I’d come out with flying colours in the film and I did — the film celebrated 150 days!” Public appreciation though isn’t too high on her priority list. “Because along with the accolades there have also been brickbats — that I’m dark or that I’m just another glamorous face. I just told myself, ‘Let them say what they have to, I’ll show them later because my work will speak for itself,’” she says. Competition is another thing the actress is dismissive about. “There’s a lot of it but I’ve carved my own niche. Everybody’s in the race to outdo each other. I’m running my own race. Not many actresses have had the guts to do what I’ve done.” And she’s prepared for the brickbats that come with the profession, including rumours and gossip. “Luckily, people think I’m bizarre because of the work I’ve done— played a gangster, a villain, a cop, so they aren’t too interested in my otherwise boring life,” she says.

Well, those three are none other than her favorite books by Ayn Rand. “Whenever time permits I keep reading the books Atlas Shrugged, We the Living and Fountain Head. They are my favorite books and enjoy them on bed”, says Nayantara with smiles. Nayan is now shining on screen with Nag in the film ‘Boss’ and she is very busy in Tamil films as well.
